This "real deal" physical album comes from a lover of art who has decorated the music therein. The art featured in the Brothington Album Booklet is a unique accompaniment to the album and was conceived, designed and created by the musician (Kyle Brothers). The 12 page booklet, clear jewel case, inserts, and semi gloss disc face embody the fruits of a labour of love, in photos, slick digital art and complete lyrics, so you can sing along and ponder the inner workings of this dually, mad artist/musician.

This song came so easily from the pen. I'd always wanted to write a story song and wasn't satisfied that I had up until this. There is no parallel to my life in the lyrical ideas. As I sing it I think of a time perhaps when my parents where growing up in the 50s or 60s. It's from when people went to the old dance halls and the world turned in a vastly different way. No One's Laughing At All harks back to that raw, brash era that seems like forever ago but is probably fresh in the minds of those who lived in it.

9. N O O N E ‘S L A U G H I N G A T A L L
It all began that night on Hallaby Street A dinner a dance it was a regular treat Jack, Joe and Tom they got the better of me Even though I asked them just to let me be When they crossed the floor I remained in my seat What they said wasn’t right and quite unfit to repeat They laughed and said they’d catch right up with me They laughed and said they’d get the better of me Chorus: And all we know is no one’s laughing at all x2 Heel and toe the dancing feet clapped the floor Heel and toe and no one bothered at all On the verandah I sat to catch my breath and a seat Off in the dark a low whistle there was summoning me My senses were dulled when I discovered the three And their faces lit up with a sickening glee I never quite understood why mercy left me complete Was it the one Tom adored who I had swept off her feet? When the fun had gone out for them I couldn’t speak I was so tender of flesh and there was none left to beat (Repeat Chorus) And every day the scars reminded me Of what took place that night down there on Hallaby Street I saw a chance some years on as my blood boiled away I took a seat as the band set off that polka to play As I rose up to the trio that same laugh filled the air It was a smattering of evil and a devil may care I sought no reintroduction and got started right there And every blow hit the target with a purposeful snare And all we know is no one’s laughing at all x2 Heel and toe their sorry heads hit the floor Heel and toe and I had evened the score (Repeat) It all took place at night on Hallaby Street

I am an musician, artist and a teacher, specialising in teaching children to play guitar. I am based near Canberra, ACT, Australia and this is my debut release. At 17 I learned to play, becoming a songwriter when practice eventually became exploration. My music fits mostly within the Folk genre with many influences. I hope that there will be many more albums to follow as I'm writing all the time. ... more
